A lizard from Timor or the fraternal poesy of Leonel Neves

Abstract

Although Leonel Neves is mainly associated with works for children, he is also the author of a notable set of poetry books. Attention to the world, to others and to poetry are characteristics of his poetics that are particularly visible in his mature works, such as Memória de Timor-Leste, although they are present throughout his literary career. This article studies the poetry of Leonel Neves, focusing on the characteristics, the coherence of the poetics and the particular case of the Timorese memorial.
